Rejecting Your Candidates’ Applications continued:
Tip #3: Provide encouragement.
Rejection can feel personal. Candidates who have experienced multiple rejections may begin to internalize that there is something “wrong” with them. Particularly if they equate their self-worth with their occupation and have been unemployed for over six months.
While it’s not your responsibility as a talent acquisition professional to solve your candidate’s crisis of confidence, providing measured encouragement can certainly soften the blow of a disappointing rejection and contribute to a positive candidate experience.
Example #1: Please do not be discouraged from applying to future positions at New Horizon Financial Services and keep a look out on our careers page for all live vacancies.
Example #2: We genuinely care about all our candidates, whether they are ultimately hired or not. We want to ensure that our people are placed in a position to excel and feel like they belong. Although we couldn’t find a fit for you in this role, our rapid growth is likely to result in even more possibilities in the days to come. With this in mind, please re-apply if you find an open role at our company that fits your interests and qualifications. We will continue to send you updates on openings as they become available.
Tip #4: Invite candidates to join your organization’s talent community.

Employer talent communities provide continuous engagement with interested job seekers through newsletters and social media. Job seekers benefit by getting early access to employment opportunities, networking with other professionals, and learning about industry trends. Through these communities, employers can reinforce their brand, maintain a pool of qualified candidates enabling them to fill positions more quickly, and learn more about what candidates expect in the current marketplace.
Example #1: We’d like to invite you to our Talent Network. By joining our talent network, you will receive career resources, insights into life at our organization, and have your profile visible to our recruiting teams, increasing your chances of finding the perfect role.
Example #2: We would love for you to stay connected and aware of our future career opportunities. Please consider joining our Talent Community to stay up to date on our latest open positions and updates from the Talent Acquisition team.
